When I first started this blog in June 2007 I had just been hired at XS Salon and Spa. I loyally stayed with them for over 3 years through endless rumors of closing, bouncing paychecks (mine never bounced), down sizing, and new hires. When I got hired there, mom was still alive (but not the same b/c of the accident). XS was a place for me to forget about the world and my life. I really did love it there, and I loved everyone I worked with (which is why I stayed so long). It was a sanctuary for me in many ways, and I will always be grateful that they hired me years ago. So, when I came into work on a regular Wednesday, it came as a huge shock to find out they really were closing for good... the next day! Thankfully, our Salon Manager got in contact with a newer salon/spa and got a lot of us in there. I thank my lucky stars that they needed an Aesthetician... otherwise I would probably be unemployed right now! All of the XS employees received a printout of their clients and phone numbers... mine was 23 pages! For 2 days I had Stephanie (who was my lifesaver) call all of my regular clients and let them know where I was. Salon G. Literally right down the road from XS. My clients have been coming in to see me, thank goodness, and I have been pretty busy (considering it is summertime=slowtime). It has been a very smooth transition.
Salon G is like a breath of fresh air compared to XS. Don't get me wrong, XS was a beautiful place, but Salon G is so bright and airy and cheery. It was time for a change. Everyone should come in and see the place!
RIP XS

I count your lucky stars too..it would not be fun looking for a new job right now...stressful, etc. I am so glad everything worked out for you!! It's not a surprise that your client list was so long...you are awesome! Love you!
So glad you found a new work home!
Holy cow are you serious? That makes me sad... XS was my sanctuary, too. :( Oh well. Isn't Stephanie fabulous? She was always so nice to me and remembered my name! I think it's awesome that they treated you so well at the end. Unfortunately, most employers aren't that gracious to their employees (especially these days, obviously). When I'm in town, I hope to enlist your services at Salon G!
:)
I agree with the breath of fresh air comment... it really does feel like that in there! I'm glad I got to see where your new job is... I still can't get over that chandelier! What a blessing to have the instant job.
